Be there when it's hard

Restoring mental well-being for the families of Ukraine's defenders

Why us?

We founded this organization not only as professionals but as a family that has personally experienced the realities of war.

We know what it means to wait, to stay strong, to lose hope, and to find the strength to move forward again.

The NGO Psychological Support of Ukraine was founded by crisis psychologist Svitlana Savochkina and her husband Yaroslav Savochkin, a war veteran who spent more than 18 months on the front line.

Russia's full-scale invasion became a profound challenge for our own family. Yaroslav volunteered to defend Ukraine and served on the front line for over 18 months. Throughout this journey, Svitlana stood beside him—not only as a military spouse but also as a crisis psychologist, supporting families living through uncertainty, anxiety, and constant fear.

Our organization was built on the combination of lived experience and professional expertise.

We don't rely solely on theory. We understand the realities faced by service members, veterans, and their families because we have experienced military service, recovery, waiting, loss, and healing firsthand.

Key focus areas

Veterans and their families

We provide psychological support to veterans, former prisoners of war, their families, internally displaced persons, and others affected by war.

Our programs help people adapt to life changes, overcome the effects of trauma and chronic stress, and restore emotional resilience through individual counseling, support groups, and specialized rehabilitation programs.

Children and Teenagers

We create a safe and supportive environment where children and adolescents can develop emotional resilience and psychological well-being.

Our services include support groups, art therapy, counseling, educational workshops, and resilience-building programs that strengthen confidence, emotional regulation, and social skills.

Organizations, educational institutions and communities

We develop and implement mental health programs for businesses, schools, universities, healthcare institutions, NGOs, and local communities.

Our initiatives help prevent professional burnout, strengthen team resilience, and foster psychologically safe environments through training, consultations, and educational programs.

Our team

We combine professional expertise with personal experience to create meaningful support programs for people affected by war, trauma, and life crises. The NGO Psychological Support of Ukraine brings together specialists in crisis psychology, family therapy, child psychology, and veteran mental health.

Our organization was founded by a crisis psychologist and a war veteran.

Your stories

Oleg K.

Thank you for the program "Equal to Equal". It was important for me to talk to people who understand what the military goes through. After the meeting, I realized that

Special thanks for dispelling many stereotypes about psychologists and psychiatrists. Now I understand that they are doctors who help just like any other specialists.

Anna S.

Being a military wife is a constant anxiety that becomes the background of life. When I came to the session, I didn't know how to unload all this pain and fear without losing my balance.

After working with Svitlana, for the first time in a long time, I felt that I had the right to my own emotions. It wasn't just a dry "calm down," but a deep, professional understanding of what I was going through. Special thanks to Yaroslav, who explained in simple and understandable language the psychology of a veteran and what life looks like "on the other side."

Thank you both for this space. It has helped me find the strength to be a support again — not only for my husband, but for myself.

Kateryna R.

I would like to sincerely thank the team of the NGO “Psychological Support of Ukraine”. I went to the meeting with the thought: “Nothing will help me anymore”. But I left with the feeling that it became easier to breathe. A very warm atmosphere, professional psychologists and the feeling that you are really heard. Thank you for your support!

Olena

Thank you for the incredible meeting, for the reminder that besides our daily worries and worries for our loved ones, there is also each of us. It was very valuable and powerful, I realized a lot and took it for myself. Svitlana very gently, tolerantly and professionally directed the focus on ourselves, on taking care of ourselves, on finding our own desires and our own rest. And when you find time for your desires and joys, the strength to live, love, create and move forward appears. Thank you for the reminder that time for yourself is not selfishness, but an opportunity to be happier and give more warmth to loved ones.
